Born as Margaret LeAnn Rimes Cibrian, she is known as an American country and pop singer. She already gained public acclaim as a singer since she was 13 years old following the release of Blue, which becoming the youngest country music star. Then she made a breakthrough debut into country music in 1996 with her album Blue. The album reached number one on the Top Country Albums chart and certified multiplatinum by Recording Industry Association of America. In 1997, as Rimes released her second studio album, You Light Up My Life: Inspirational Songs, she moved towards country pop genre. In total, from her early career in 1991 up to this day Rimes has released fourteen studio albums and received many awards and nominations. In her early years as a country singer, she won Top New Female Vocalist and Single of the Year for Blue in 1996 by Academy of Country Music awards. She has winning two Grammy Awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Country Vocal Performance in 1997 and 1998, respectively. Other several singles are nominated under the same category. Besides her occupation as a singer, in 1998 Rimes decided to venture to acting career by playing in several television films and film. As her debut Rimes played a role in Holiday in Your Heart which earned her the Rising Star award from the Lone Star Film & Television Awards. Her TV appearance including Drop Dead Diva and Reel Love shows in 2001. In 2007 Rimes began to host the Colgate Country Showdown, a televised country music talent competition. She also appears as herself in LeAnn & Eddie, a VH1 reality television.
